Kon Mari'ing your Wardrobe | Spring Declutter

As we are due to enter British Summer Time this weekend I felt it only right to select a post from the archives which involves Spring Cleaning. I for one love organising and cleaning, especially in the spring, and felt that this was the perfect opportunity to share with you me cleaning/organising tips for an organised wardrobe. Yesterday I set myself a challenge of something I'd been putting off for weeks - to sort out my wardrobe! My wardrobe, some may call it a closet, had got into an awful state of clothes being jumbled together on the rail, clothes hanging off the hangers, piles of clothes gathering dust at the bottom and me frantically opening then shutting the doors to get my clothes out before the pile at the bottom collapsed on me.

I thought it may be helpful or interesting for me to share what I did and my tips to organize my wardrobe as I love organisation. Please let me know if you do too and I may do more posts or perhaps a series of posts.

Sorting Out

To sort out my wardrobe I first emptied my wardrobe completely. To do this I used a clothes rail ( £8 from Ikea) and moved the clothes from the rail in my wardrobe onto the freestanding rail. In doing so I sorted them into categories. For the items at the floor of my wardrobe I did a similar thing - if there was clothes and they were clean I would hang them accordingly, if they were dirty I tossed them into the laundry basket. Everything else, bags, belts, shoes, etc. I sorted into piles.

Once my wardrobe was empty I wiped the wardrobe with a damp cloth and them began to put the items back in. In doing so I sorted the items I didn't want into toss or sell piles. I decided to put the items in the bottom of my wardrobe back first - such as my shoes, bags, scarves. On the Sunday morning I had took a trip to Ikea to buy the grey metal drawers, photographed, with it in mind that I was going to use this in my wardrobe.I decided to use these grey drawers for plastic and clutch bags, another drawer for shorts and leggings and the top drawer for casual vest tops that didn't need hanging. By doing this I saved much needed hanging space by taking up available room at the bottom of my wardrobe.

Also in the bottom of my wardrobe I filled a white cardboard box, also from ikea, with my scarves, hats, gloves and slippers and two sets of drawers - a cardboard set from whsmith ( filled with random junk) and wooden drawers again from ikea ( the top drawer filled with frontcover makeup and the two smaller drawers filled with belts and postage stuff). Additionally, in a clarins paper bag I placed, side by side, my flat shoes and sandals.

Last to go in the bottom of the wardrobe was an old soap and glory box , which I have filled with hair tools, paper bags (slotted to the side of my drawers), two me to you bears and my black heels.

I then placed my clothes back onto the rail, sorting as I went as to get rid of any clothes I no longer want to keep. I sorted these by category and from light to dark.

Extra Tips for Organization and Clearing Out

Place Hangers Backwards - You may have noticed on the photos above that when I put my clothes back into my wardrobe the hangers are the opposite way to what you'd expect. When I have worn an item and want to put it back into my wardrobe I do so the 'normal' way. By doing this you are able to see the items that you are neglecting and if they stay like this for more than 6 months chances are you aren't going to wear it again.

Double Hang If you are short on hanging space hang two of a similar item on the same hanger to save space.

Current Favourites: Skincare and Bodycare featuring Soap and Glory,Skinetica,Nip and Fab and No7

Hello everybody! I hope you are all well and for those who live where the snow has hit - I hope it isn't causing too much grief!As I haven't done a favourites post for a while, I thought that today I would share four of my current favourite body and skincare products.

Nip and Fab Body Wash (Available in N&F sets)

I was very fortunate to win this in a twitter giveaway and I am so glad that I did because I have discovered a new favourite scent, Pistachio! This smells of almond and pistachio and lathers up really easily, whether you want it as a bubble bath or a body wash. I love this even more as it isn't irritating on my skin nor does it leave it dry.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Scrub - £8

I, like many many more, am a huge fan of Soap and Glory products and this has been one of my most reached for S&G product lately. The scent is lovely and refreshing, think citrus and lime, but what I love even more is how moisturising it is on the skin whilst also being great at removing dead skin. I definitely notice visibly ( and feelably if that is a word) a difference in the skin on my arms when using this.

Skinetica -£9.99

Skinetica recently sent me this to review and I think its great! Although I don't see this as a miracle spot treatment product I see it as a miracle makeup remover (much like the cleansing waters you can buy) as I use this following my cleanser and this will pick up all the traces of dirt and makeup that you think have gone whilst feeling just like water on the skin.

No7 Radiance Revealed Exfoliator - £8

I have been exfoliating much more frequently lately since I have found myself with those pesky hormonal breakouts and dry winter skin ( its spring for goodness sake!). This has been working great as it is a cream exfoliator. Although I can't say it has got rid of my spots this has been great at making my skin appear healthier and feel much softer. Definitely a must for those with dry skin.

*I believe that this may now be the No7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator since the No7 rebrand however as I have not taken a look instore I am not completely sure how they compare. That being said, if you happen to come across this cleanser in the clearance section I urge you to try it!*

Primark Makeup Brushes Review (From the Archives)

Hello! Happy Friday to all of you! Before I introduce you to todays From the Archives post I thought I would just say that I have a BlogLovin account (BethMayBlogs) for anybody fretting over gfc which you can access by clicking HERE or the buttons on my sidebarToday I thought I would share an old review of some brushes that I still continue to use from Primark no less! Primark are often seen as cheap and trashy but seeing as I have almost owned these brushes for 2 years and they are still going strong that you may be interested in my thoughts and could go and have a hunt in good old Primarni!

(t-b) Foundation and Concealer Brush, Blending Brush

Foundation and Concealer Brush (Foundation)
This foundation brush is relatively flat and not at all dense. This brush can be difficult to use and if you are not very successful when applying foundation with other foundation brushes like this, this will not be any easier.
Foundation is very hard to apply and blend with this and you will need to use another brush, or your fingers, to finish your application.

Foundation and Concealer Brush (Concealer)
Although I dislike the other end of this brush, I love the concealer end.
I was actually happy when the glue came away from the concealer end so that I was able to carry the concealer end by itself. Because of its compact size, the bristles are relatively dense, meaning concealer is applied directly to my under eye area and is blended effortlessly.

Blending Brush
This brush is designed mainly for blending of face products but would also work well for liquid eye products.
Each end is of a size that it is convenient to target specific areas of the face and the small angled brush is perfect for under the eyes.The 'larger' brush is less dense than the smaller end meaning it is harder to use than the angled brush but is still great for applying foundation to more difficult areas of your face.

Kabuki

This Kabuki is the first Kabuki that I have owned and will be the only one for a long time. I do not understand why you need to pay any more for a brush that works just as well.I love this for applying face powder or applying a light hint of bronze and also for blending.

Blusher Brush
If I were to recommend this brush it wouldn't be for blush, but for powder. I don't feel that the brush is dense enough for me and that there can be too much fallout. I much prefer this brush for a light powder coverage as the brush allows you evenly distribute the product.

I hope you enjoyed my post from the archives. I am being completely honest when I say that I don't think a day has gone by where I haven't used my Kabuki brush. It may not look exactly the same as it did 2 years ago ( and I had owned it for a year previously!) but I don't think that I have ever seen it shed, it washes easily and is still soft. If you happen to see it in Primark ( it was £1.50 when I bought it) then I urge you to give it a try!

Worth the Hype? Naked 2 Palette Review

Naked 2 Palette -£36

Hello! Back in January my very kind Auntie brought this little gem back with her from duty free and boy was I excited! Urban Decay palettes are always spoke about on the internet which meant that I was lusting over this for a long time.

If you read my twitter (@CosmticLover) or read my January summary post you may have read my first impressions of this palette. For those that haven't, in a nutshell I was not impressed. I found it difficult to work with the shades on my eyes, the colours didn't seem to have a good pay off and they would crease more-or-less instantly. Instead of leaving this palette to one side and let it gather dust, I decided to persevere with it and use it everyday in my make-up bag and thank goodness I did!

My opinion of this has completely changed and I think that I prefer some (certain) shadows in this palette to that of my favourite eyeshadows. I do find that the quality of each shade is not consistent but with most of these shades they are creamy, pigmented, blend easily and don't crease if I use my bare study paint pot. What's more, some of these eyeshadows can last from being applied at 7.15 in the morning and still be on my eyes at 9.00 at night!

With other shades however I do find that they fade rather quickly and transfer whilst wearing them which is a shame as I wish all shades were equally as good! Fortunately there are many more 'good' shades than the bad ones which makes purchasing the palette worthwhile.

I highly recommend swatching this palette in store to see the shades that you prefer and to decide if this palette can work for you. The MUA might even be able to demo it on you! What is even better with this palette is is also comes with a lip gloss that isn't half bad.

Overall I am now very glad that my Auntie purchased this for me and that I got a chance to try it! Although I love the quality of these shadows though do remember that there are also great eyeshadows from the likes of No7 that are a fraction of the price for those on a budget or wanting to satisfy their cravings for neutral eyeshadows!
