This really is as good as everybody says. If you want intense bright lip colour , that is what you shall get. I have this in the Frambourjois shade, a bold matte raspberry pink-red, and greatly contrasts my porcelain pale skin. The applicator makes this very easy to apply without being messy and once applied to your desired 'brightness', which needs half a coat, the colour stays matte and is extremely long lasting. It will last fairly well through eating and drinking but I would advise touching up the colour after food to avoid having that awkward line of colour around your lips. That being said, this doesn't go dry or crispy throughout the day and looks very smooth and 'velvet' on your lips and once it has 'set',it doesn't move. The colour you see in the tube really is the colour you get on the lips so pick a colour you love and it shall not disappoint! What are you views on the much spoken about Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick?
I'm never really one to get excited over new Mascaras as it takes months for me to get through a tube however I was intrigued to try Bourjois new addition that claims to give you '1 second' volume after the recent hype in the blog-o-sphere.
For me, the summer allows me to fully test a mascara as I suffer from severe hayfever, runny eyes and persistent sneezing. Because of this, I jumped at the chance to try out Bourjois latest number and share the outcome with you guys as I knew I'd really be able to put it through its paces!
BEFORE - Bare Lashes
AFTER - 2 Coats of Mascara
The mascara is packaged in a silver tube with coral accents of which a very large plastic barrel brush is contained. If you look carefully at the brush there are small plastic balls among the bristles said to 'wrap every lash' and the straight bristles to create clump-free definition.
Where I do feel that 1 second volume is a little optimistic for me without ending up with mascara all over my face, it is very easy and quick to create my desired result (photographed), only requiring 2 coats to fully coat and volumise my lashes and when doing so, doesn't clog or clump my lashes!
This also looks good after 1 coat however produces a much more natural finish this way so it is totally dependent on the look that you go for. It is also worth mentioning that the results photographed are without eyelash curlers.
My only downfall with this is that the does smudge on the edges of lower lash line, even when only wearing mascara on my top lashes day-to-day, so hasn't passed my hayfever test. That being said, I haven't yet found a mascara to withstand my hayfever symptoms this season so I don't blame the mascara for this. In saying this, I am sure that the waterproof version would be much longer lasting so if you want to prevent this happening, then perhaps try the latter.
This mascara is priced at £9.99 which seems to be the average for high street mascaras nowadays but hasn't yet started to dry out despite trialling for a month or so already. It also is very convenient to remove with my normal removal method, micellar water and coconut oil, and you won't wake up with Panda eyes the next day.
This Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick is new to Bourjois with ¼ pure laque for a vibrant finish and shine wrapped colour. It is also said to be incredibly soft ready to wear formula and give you 10 hour hydration to your lips.
The packaging to me is very substantial and classy, not cheap looking considering it is cheaper than other drugstore and high end products.
I have this lipstick in the shade 17 Rose Millesime which I would describe as a medium to bright pink that is pigmented and transfers to the same colour on your lips as the bullet but isn’t in your face and can be sheered out to make it more natural or applied directly from the bullet for more of a statement.
The finish is pearly/ gloss with a small hint of shimmer that is only noticeable up close. The lipstick is smooth to apply, although it can feel slightly grainy, and has no scent or flavour. For me personally, I would prefer if this had a flavour/scent.
The colour lasts for 2hours , which is an average amount of time for me and is expected of a less expensive product.
My Verdict on the Bourjois Lipstick...
Bourjois claims that this gives you 10 hours hydration. Although this doesn’t dry out your lips, I would say that the ‘moisture’ in this lipstick isn’t sufficient enough for me and I still need to apply a lip balm before this, more so now it is getting colder and I need to either reapply this or a balm to give moisture to my lips.
"correct and conceal with the new 123 perfect foundation! Our new foundation provides a flawless complexion and perfectly even skin tone. With added cotton flower extract, the formula also provides the perfect balance between hydration for the skin and anti ine. Protects skin with SPF 10 and provides 24hr hydration."
With 3 correcting pigments for zero imperfections
Yellow-anti dark circles
Mauve - anti dull complexion
Green - anti redness
Consistency
The consistency of the foundation,i feel, is much thinner to others on the market and more watery. However I do feel this helps with the application of the foundation and makes the foundation easy to blend, whether with a foundation or stippling brush or your fingers and will give a medium coverage.
Coverage + Finish
Like its claims, this foundation successfully corrects the redness on my cheeks and keeps my redness at bay throughout the day. It also, with the yellow pigments, counteracts the colours under your eyes, disguising any dark circles and for me, although I still use concealer, reduce the need for it. As for the mauve pigments, as it is a mostly matte foundation, I don't feel it does much for anti dullness but give a slight (very subtle) glow, though I don't feel I have this problem and usually follow with a highlighter anyway.
This foundation is a semi matte foundation, matte with a slight sheen, that claims to keep shine at bay whilst keeping the skin moisturised.with dry skin, generally, I won't opt for matte or semi matte foundations as I fear, although they blot an oily t zone, that they will dry my skin out and the foundation will look patchy. This is not the case and this does not dry my skin nor leave it feeling tight and caked. I do find that once I have applied and blended this foundation, it doesn't feel like i am wearing foundation and feels natural on the skin. I also find it looks very natural but makes your skin look and feel smooth and 'perfected'.
Lasting Power
As for lasting power, without setting with a powder, that this can last for 9 hours however after this time I do notice it beginning to fade and go patchy - looking better if it was removed.
Colour
The colour I have tried is shade 52 which, I feel, is a shade too dark and 51 would better suit however if I only use a small amount I can easily blend it into the skin. I do find that this foundation, and bourjois foundations in general, is very yellow toned however this works to 'perfect' my skin. The shade range overall I feel is quite restrictive to fair and olive skin tones and may make it hard to choose a shade. However bear in mind that the colour it appears in the bottle is different from the product that is dispensed.
Conclusion
Overal I feel that this is a great foundation for the spring summer months as it prevents my skin from getting oily ( I have dry combination skin) yet still gives me life in my face. All whilst correcting redness and my under eye circles.
Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make-up Remover Gel, Real Techniques Stippling Brush, Bourjois 123 Foundation, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, No7 Blusher (Honey?), MAC Cream Colour Base (Pearl), MAC 217
My my, another month gone and the exams looming ever closer....
Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make up remover
I have recently posted a review sharing my love for this bargain beauty and its just great. Removes my eyeshadow without irritating my eyes. Just go out and try this - i'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Real Techniques Stippling Brush
This beauty I use mainly for blending my concealer and applying my cream highlight but also for my foundation. Such a versatile brush that is of excellent quality. Something I reach for on a daily basis and would now be lost without.
MAC 217
Another brush which I reach for on a daily basis. Again, this is so versatile and works perfect for applying eyeshadow all over the lid and blending also.
No7 Natural Blush Cheek - Honey
This colour blush ( and damson) I find is the most flattering for my skintone and I love the result. It gives colour to the cheek whilst also helping to contour and give my face some depth. The fact I have hit pan on this shows how much use I get out of it.
MAC Cream Colour Base - Pearl
May I just say, I took a picture of this and I was appalled to show it to you because of the state it is currently in. Put it this way - it gets its use. This is another product I have been reaching for on a daily basis and I can't get enough of it. Just a perfect cheek highlight that leaves you with a dewy glow.
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
Yes I gave into the hype and I can believe it. I'm not sure if I prefer it to my MAC Moisturecover as of yet but I do love the coverage and lasting power - less of the pants packaging.
Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation
((A review should be on my blog soon) )
I have switched to a semi matte foundation instead of my usual satin/dewy and I think I like it during the springtime. This offers perfect coverage and will last throughout my school day.
