Project Pan 2022 - Makeup Empties

The time has come around again to share my 2022 project pan progress report.

To conclude 2022, I wanted to show you how well (or not) I’ve done with finishing makeup products, based on the makeup products I set out in January 2022 to finish by the end of the year.

At the end of my 2021 project pan, I managed to finish 46 products. My 2022 project pan aim was to use 30 products in total, with at least 2 full eyeshadow palettes. I gave myself the head start this year by starting the year strong with some eyeshadow palettes that are already part finished, namely my XX Revolution CrystalXX palette, Stila Eyes Are The Window Palette and My FENTY Beauty Snap Shadows.

In January 2022, I took a couple of photos of my eyeshadow palettes that I wanted to finish by the end of the year, so that I could track my progress as I hit pan on them.

For those of you who don’t know what ‘hitting pan’ is. it’s where you aim to ‘hit pan’ / see the makeup pan on a powdered makeup product, or in my case - completely finishing up a makeup product. I try to stick to a 1 in 1 out policy when it comes to my makeup collection, but Christmas tipped me out of this routine and my makeup collection grew considerably.

Project Pan 2022 Progress - Eyeshadow Palettes

In 2022, I decided to stick with an area of my collection that I have far too many of - eyeshadow! I received a set of eyeshadow brushes for Christmas, so I’d made it my 2022 new years resolution to be more experimental with my eyeshadow looks. Working from home has certainly helped with this as I’m able to try colours I wouldn’t typically wear with no repercussions.

To see how well I’ve got on with my 2022 project pan, read on...

Products I hoped to use up in 2022 include:

XX Revolution CrystalXX Eyeshadow Palette
Fenty Snap Shadow - 5
LA Girl Haute Haute Heat Palette - Vacay
Revolution Illuminator
ELF Blusher
ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette

A combination of a makeup low-buy (one in one out) and my project pan will hopefully help me to reduce the size of my makeup collection so that it’s more manageable.

ELF Need It Nude - Mid Year Progress - April 2022

By April 2022, I'd pan on 6 of the 10 shades in my ELF Need It Nude Eyeshadow Palette.

End of Year Progress - December 2022

By the end of December 2022, I'd fully used up 2 of the shades, and have hit pan on 4 of the remaining 8 shades in the palette.

XX Revolution CrystalXX Eyeshadow Palette - January 202

At the start of the year, I'd already had 6 Empty shadows, 2 I'd Hit Pan on and 3 Left to hit pan on.

XX Revolution CrystalXX Eyeshadow Palette - April 2022 Progress

At the start of the year I'd got 2 shades that I'd hit pan on in my Crystal XX palette. By April, I'd hit pan on 4 shades.

XX Revolution CrystalXX Eyeshadow Palette - December 2022 Progress

I finished 2022, having completed 9 of the shades in the palette, with 3 shades left to use up in 2023.

LA Girl Haute Haute Heate Palette - April 2022 Progress

I've been pushing myself out of my neutral brown comfort zone in using my LA Girl Haute Haute Heat Palette for everyday eyeshadow looks in 2022 this year, and by April (after recieving the palette as a gift for Christmas 2021), I'd hit pan on 3 of my shades.

LA Girl Haute Haute Heate Palette - December 2022 Progress

I'm so pleased to have finished 2022 having completely used up 2 of the shades, and hit pan on 2 others. I definitely need to get into experimenting with the matte shades in this palette for 2023. I only wish the palette was smaller and easier to travel with.

Fenty Snap Shadows - January 2022

Fenty Snap Shadows - April 2022 Progress

By mid way through 2022, I managed to hit pan on another shade in my Fenty Snap Shadow (5) palette, which I had used up fully by July.

Finishing up December 2022, I am so close to finishing up two further shades in my Fenty Snap Shadows.

Makeup Empties: 2022

So what makeup have I actually managed to finish?

Foundations (5) - £49.95-  5 x Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation (£9.99 )

It’s not hard to tell what my favourite foundation of 2022 was! I love this foundation as a fail safe and it’s affordable and versatile for daily wear or for going out. I LOVE it.

Concealers (3) - £14.97 - Maybelline Fit Me Concealer -(£5.99), 2 x Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.49 each)

2022 saw the completion of three concealers, all under £10 and both one’s I’d class as firm drugstore favourites.

Powders (1) -£34 - Laura Mercier Loose Powder - Translucent

I tried to repurchase this, but I believe this exact powder has now been discontinued in favour of a ‘glow’ version. If I could repurchase this, I would. Super long lasting and a firm favourite.

Bronzer (1) - £42- Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer - Fair

I’ve since received a refill of this, but opted for the next shade up as ‘Fair’ was unfortunately too pale as a bronzer. I loved using this in 2022.

Eyeshadow (7) - £16.66  - Ted Baker Brown Cream Eyeshadow Pan (x1) - (£6 eqv), Bellini Baby Eyeshadow (5 Fenty Palette) (£3.67 eqv.), Stila Eyeshadow - Thought (From Eyes are The Window Palette) - (£2.75 eqv), 2 x ELF Eyeshadows - Need It Nude Palette - (£2 eqv), 2 x LA Girl Eyeshadows (£2.24 eqv.)

It’s not quite been the 23 eyeshadows I’d used in 2021, however, I’m still pleased with the progress I’ve made in 2022.

Mascara (0) -

Primer & Setting Spray (3) - £40.50- Iconic Prep-Set-Glow Setting Spray  (£22), Smashbox Oil & Shine Control Primer (£14), Avon Magix Makeup Setting Spray (£4.50)

Considering I only tend to reach for primer  for ‘special occasions’ and setting spray with my XX Revolution eyeshadows, I was pleased to use up one primer and two setting sprays in 2022..

Blusher (0)

Lipstick, Gloss & Balm (1) - £3 Avon Lip Balm Stick (£3)

Highlighters (1) - £6 - Revolution Liquid Rose Gold Highlighter (£6)

It would be wrong not to finish with my one of my favourite makeup items of 2022. If you are a fan of a GLOW, this is the only illuminator/ highlighter you need. A couple of drops leaves such a glossy sheen on your cheeks that can be sheered out or built up according to your preference.

TOTAL:  £204.08
