REVIEW*: Revolution XX Foundation & Concealer
20:00It’s been a little while since I posted about makeup, but XX by Revolution is the newest brand from Revolution Beauty, with such a great range of must-have products for every skin, every shade, every look, most of which are cruelty-free and vegan too! I first reviewed their new XX by Revolution CrystalXX Eyeshadow Palette, which I’d urge you to check out, but today I thought I’d talk about their XX Revolution Liquid Skin Foundation and XX Revolution Super Fix Concealer . The first thing you’ll notice about the new XX Revolution range, much like their existing range, is that the number of shades available for this foundation is insane. I wasn’t able to swatch the shades in person and chose my shade using the online swatch guides. Unfortunately, I picked one that’s slightly too pale for my skin (FX2), where I’d usually pick the lightest or second lightest shades from other brands, so it's definitely worth swatching the shades if you can. The foundation is full (matt) coverage and thick in its texture. One pump doesn’t go far and it will set quickly, so I’ve found myself using multiple pumps, one at a time, and blending it in in different parts of my face at a time. I have found that mixing this with moisturiser for a lighter and more blendable base. The packaging is lovely and very high-end looking. I have dry/combination skin, but find that this tends to suit my skin better when I don’t have dry patches to avoid clinging to these. Because the foundation sets to a matt finish, I find myself not using powder and this will still last all day without the need for touch ups. Next up is the crease-proof, full coverage XX Revolution Conceal XX Super Fixx Concealer. This concealer is a must for long-wearing coverage. It has stretchable formula that both conceals and brightens skin, covering blemishes, dark circles and redness, with no flashback. Its applicator is unlike any other doe-foot applicator I’ve ever used. It is designed to be under-eye hugging, making it easy to apply in one stroke. This concealer is quite thick in texture, so proves to be quite heavy duty to cover dark circles. If you are worried about creasing, i’d definitely use a very small amount of this, apply with the doe-foot applicator, then blend using a damp sponge. It’s easy to blend and the shade range is great. The added vitamin E and hyaluronic acid is also a nice touch, leaving a flawless satin finish. Like the foundation, the concealer is available in 55 shades with yellow, olive, pink, neutral, cool, golden, orange and warm undertones. Available from Boots for £10.00. Also worth a mention is the t-shirt I’m wearing, a new addition to my wardrobe from Femme Luxe, the Aurora 'Beverly Hills 1990' Oversized T-Shirt. The t-shirt is oversized, lovely quality and affordable too, I ordered it in a large (size 12/14). Also available in white, this works great as loungewear, paired with leggings or jeans a bargain at £8.99. You can check out Femme Luxe’s range of T Shirts here.
