I have a fussy scalp. Full stop. For a long time I struggled to find products that didn't irritate my skin and in return I ended up with a scaly scalp and a flaky scalp (dandruff I curse you!).

After struggling with my scalp for months, searching high and low for helpful posts, I took myself to the doctors who diagnosed a couple of products, to work alongside my faithful products, that have been working well to finally sort my scalp out and reduce the scaly-ness and flakes - hallelujah!

T-Gel

I have featured T Gel in the past and prior to my trip to the doctors this shampoo helped to keep my scalp as calm as it could be and to reduce the itching. I use the Sensitive Scalp Variety and the Coal Tar one. These can be found in Boots and Home Bargains.

Nizoral Anti Dandruff Shampoo (available from your Pharmacy)

This, as the doctor advised, I use on a weekly basis to control the scaly-ness. I have noticed a visible difference in my scalp and a little of this lathers up well.

DiproSalic Scalp Application

This was prescribed to me so I don't know if you can find it over the counter however I have been using this at night, probably every other night, applying a small amount to the itchy areas of my scalp and massaging it in. Your hair can look oily with this but that can be controlled by using a tiny bit.

Overall these 3 (4) products have been keeping my scalp calm and overall improving it. If you have been having trouble with your scalp perhaps give these a go or take a trip to your doctors!

As many of you may know I am blessed with very fair skin - paler than MAC NW15 for reference - and can often find it difficult, as I'm sure many do, to find products pale enough to suit my skintone. Today I thought that I would share a few products that my sister ( who is paler than myself) and I have found work best with our skin.

#1 Garnier Oil Free BB Cream

Now I will say that this isn't the palest product featured and can seem quite dark/orange when swatched however I do find that if I use a small amount I can buff this into my skin and it is not in your face. Providing coverage with a small hint of colour but without leaving horrible tide lines. I also find when using my powder any orange-ness is reduced.

#2 Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - Review Here

The great thing about this powder is that is is translucent and even if it wasn't it doesn't look ashy on pale skin as it matches the colour of mine! This works well as it doesn't look obvious on the skin but can tone down a foundation that may look too dark

#3 Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

They have recently repromoted this product with a paler shade - 010 Light Porcelain. This is a product that my sister uses and she loves ( I am yet to give my judgement) and I have also seen many positive reviews on the blog-o-sphere ( see here ). On my sister this doesn't look cakey, lasts all day and matches her skin perfectly

#4 MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

As concealer shades are made slightly lighter than foundation shades ( or so I believe) this colour matches my face perfectly and is a great concealer! MAC are definitely worth checking out if you are struggling to find a colour match!

A little while ago I found out that I had won Nip and Fab's Twitter giveaway and that they would be sending my a surprise goody bag in the post. When I received it in the post I was rather excited and thought that you may want to see what I won. This La Roche Posay Multi-Purpose Repairing Balm contains panthenol, antibacterial and shea butter that soothes, protects and repairs the whole family’s sensitive or irritated skin.

The cream is thick and nourishing, a little going a long way, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, even on my face, which is good as it can be hard finding products that don’t irritate my skin, especially when it is dry.

When applied on my face it rubs in easily and, although it takes longer than an average moisturiser to sink in, I don’t have to wait a long time before applying my makeup. My face, or skin, does look shiny when applying this (if I don’t apply makeup) however it doesn’t feel greasy.

This product is a multi use and versatile product which means you get more for your money. This cream can be used for chapped lips, chapped/dry skin, sensitive skin and grazes/burns. Although I have never used this on grazes or burns, I have used this on my face, hands and lips and have been happy with the ‘normal’ skin results following using this. I have also found that, where I would usually moisturise twice a day, I only need to moisturise my face once a day with this.

Despite this product being non perfumed, there is still a mild scent with this cream that I am not overly keen on and many others may, too, dislike the scent which is something worth checking before purchasing the product.

Overall this is a versatile product that works great at moisturising dry skin, particularly on your face.

As you may be able to tell from the title and not-so-creative photograph I am placing myself on a Beauty Buying Ban. I won't say that I am a huge beauty buyer however I have noticed that my favourite products are starting to hit pan and run out so this ban may be more challenging than I think.

Basically, as it is Lent tomorrow (13th February 2013) I am setting myself the challenge to give up buying any beauty products ( and also eating Chocolate!) for the 40ish days (46 I believe!) that Lent is until the 30th March. Dependant on how I progress I may extend my ban and shall let you know on my progress if that is the case!

Hello! A new year brings new favourites! Unlike last year I plan to stop making this as a monthly series but instead posting 'Favourites' posts when I have plenty of products to talk about ( this may occur monthly depending on how many new products I try) as I found last year that I repeated myself. This will also be the case for my empties posts. Hope you don't mind!

NEW FAVOURITES

Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub -  I have recently rediscovered this as it has been hiding away at my Grandads house for a few months. I forgot how amazing this smells. This has banana,almond and honey extracts and has a syrup-like maple fragrance. This scrubs your skin without being abrasive or irritating and is generally a great body exfoliator which leaves your arms and legs soft and smooth.

RT Expert Face Brush - This brush is amazing and has replaced my RT Stippling brush for applying my foundation. It is dense and allows you to really buff foundations into your skin. Like other RT Brushes this doesn't shed, washes easily and is really soft.

RT Deluxe Crease Brush - This is intended as an eye shadow brush but I prefer this for my concealer, namely my MAC Studio finish, this really buffs concealers into your skin so it doesn't look cakey and is the perfect size for around your nose and under your eyes.

MAC Prolongwear Concealer - This has been my concealer of choice lately and this does the job great. I use this on my blmeishes and under my eyes. I'll be honest, this doesn't cover everything as I'd hope but it still works well and doesn't crease or look cakey.

MAC Soft and Gentle MSF - You may have read my thoughts in my MAC review post on this product  but for those that haven't I have been reaching for this product for my eyeshadow rather than my cheeks nd have loved it. As an eyeshadow it doesn't crease, is pigmented and lasts all day. I have also been reaching for this, less frequently though, on my cheeks alongside my Narz Zen Blush and the finish is very glowy and flattering.

La Roche Posay Soothing Repairing Balm - I won't ramble about this product because I have an in depth review to come however I have been reaching for this as my daily moisturiser and when my skin has been chapped and this works great.

Hello! On a bid to become more personal with my blog readers this year I have decided to trial out a new monthly series idea with you - A monday monthly summary. This basically entails me sharing with you what I have been up to over the previous month and perhaps, if I have any, any photographs too. Please let me know what you think of this idea and if many of you like this I shall update you all again at the end of February!

January:

New Year: January for me started with my mum,dad,sister and I reigning in the new year in our living room after haven eaten a delicious chinese takeaway. This allowed for some 'de-stress' before the new year rolled in with lots of work for us all.

Revision and Exams: New Years Eve was the last chance to de-stress for me as I had two exams in Janaury - History (Crime and Punishment) and Science (P2a,C2a,B2a). I spent the majority of my christmas break and far too many hours in January devoted to revision which ended up with a very relieved Beth when they both were over. For me, I found science the better of the two however only time will tell before the results arrive.

Parties and Dinners: In January I celebrated both of my Grandads birthdays (both of which share a birthday) by eating lovely food at the local pub and at another, not so local, Chinese Buffet ( have you gathered we love chinese food!?). This allowed for a lovely chance to spend time with family that we often don't get the chance to sit down and have a good chat with. I also went to one of my friends 16th birthday parties which was also great fun with lots of dancing and generally having a good time celebrating not only her birthday but the end of our exams.

Snow: Janaury was also a time for snow! For me, the geek who stayed in revising, I didn't end up going sledging but instead stayed inside toasty in front of our 'fire' whilst watching the snow fall and also noticing the evergrowing icicles on the side of my house. However I did manage to throw a few snowballs and do some 'skating' on the icy car parks close to where I live

House: I don't think I have ever mentioned this before but my house is in the process of being renovated on a rather large scale ( think rebuilding round a house, having to build under a house so it doesn't fall into the ground and extending it too). Well this month the builder has managed to knock out an upstairs wall and rebuilt another in its place, we have had our AGA delivered for our kitchen ( which I am very excited to use in the future) and our kitchen units have arrived. This may seem rather dull to you however if you have had your house renovated before you may, too, have been exited by the many changes that occur during a renovation.

Purchases/New Beauty Additions: This month I came into possession of the infamous Naked 2 palette by a very kind auntie of mine who purchased it from duty free for me ( you can imagine how excited I was for it). When I first tried it out I was very disappointed with it, the pay off was awful in comparison to other (cheaper) eyeshadows in my collection, the shadows creased even with a primer ( which never happens!) and the shadows seemed to fade really quickly. Generally, my opinions of the palette were mostly negative of this palette in January and I questioned all the hype of it. That being said I have been trying to make a conscious effort to play around with this and I think that my feeling might slowly be changing for the better.

This month also saw me purchasing the also-raved-about Revlon Lip Butter and Kissable Balm Stains. Time will tell on what I think of these and whether I think these too are over hyped - look out for a review in the future.
