Favourite Lip Balms

(Left to Right: W7 Sliders Lipbalm, BlistexMed Plus, Vaseline, I love... Strawberry Milkshake, PRIMARK Strawberry lip balm, Coca Cola Lip Smacker, Strawberry CHAPSTICK with SPF10, Lypsyl Original, CHAPSTICK Medicated, Cotton Candy Lip Smacker )

Best Lip Balms

So as you may have noticed reading previous posts; I may as well be married to my CHAPSTICK I love it that much. But my love for lip balms doesn't stop there! I have, and have tried, a large amount of lip balms and have come to find ones that I love and equally ones that I dislike.

I feel that when it comes to Lip Balms they can be confusing. There are that many on the market that all moisturise your lips differently. To help with this I will rate each lip balm shown as the following;

LOW - Everyday lip protection, for lips that don't need added moisture and don't often dry out

MEDIUM - Lip protection that could be used a couple of times a day to prevent dryness that you may be more prone to

HIGH- Heavy duty Instant moisture for dry and chapped ( maybe even peeling) lips

LIP BALMS

W7 Slider Lip Balm - Raspberry - LOW

This smells and tastes lovely and is creamy too! If you are only in need of a little moisture, this will do the job perfectly and will give a lovely colour to your lips

BLISTEX MedPlus - HIGH

If your lips are very dry this will moisturise then and will leave your lips all tingly!

VASELINE - MEDIUM

Vaseline is a great multi-purpose product. It could be applied heavily at night to treat dryness or applied lightly to give you a moisture.

I love... Strawberry Milkshake - LOW

This smells great but because of its consistency can be quite sticky and messy. In saying this, this balm leaves your lips glossy and smooth.

PRIMARK Strawberry Lip Balm - LOW

This has a thick consistency which can be hard to work with but gives a lot of moisture with a small amount, a little goes a long way! Not the best lip balm but great for an affordable balm.

coca cola chapstick and strawberry chapstick

Coca Cola Lip Smacker - LOW (very)

If you like the flavours of these Lip Smackers then great! If you don't then there is no point in buying this (obviously!) I feel that these don't moisturise you lips at at all so please waste your money on these.

Strawberry CHAPSTICK - MEDIUM

This tastes AMAZING and is extremely moisturising. With the added SPF too, this lip balm is definately an essential!

MEDICATED CHAPSTICK - HIGH

medicated chapstick and cotton candy lipsmacker

My lips at the start of the year had reached the point of peeling all over and having them swell up. It was awful! This lip balm was my saviour and for that I have been faithful to it.

Cotton Candy Lipsmacker - LOW

I find this slightly more moisturising than the Cola Lip Smacker and also with a better taste! If only a little moisture is needed, this is great.

Products I regret buying

Makeup Products I Wouldn't repurchase

PRODUCTS I WOULDN'T REPURCHASE

In trying beauty products over the past couple of years I have come to discover that some are not as good as others and I have ‘wasted’ my money on. Obviously this is my own opinion and you may be planning on trying or have tried these products and disagree. Please take these as a pinch of Salt and do not trust all that I say as we all have different skin which act better/worse with certain products.

Colourworks

This is a brand I have mixed opinions about. Firstly it is a bummer because it is only sold in gift sets in superdrugs, mostly during the festive season. The brand is great for younger wearers of make-up in which they can experiment which different product types/colours and wish to expand their collection but would not be as great for more ‘experienced’ wearers because of its poor pigmentation and bad colour payoff. I do however like their bronzer, which if sold individually, I would purchase.

L'oreal True Match Foundation

Some may remember seeing this foundation on a favourites post of mine a couple of months ago and since then my opinions have changed. I think I am too lazy with this - and this is noy for the lazy! This takes a lot of blending and even then it just isn't very flattering on my dry skin. This is unlike other MATTE foundations, other matte foundations can look good on dry skin and do not feel really heavy on your face. This does give great coverage and a little can go a long way but for me; there are much better foundations for my skin type. In sayings this,I definately think that this may work better on oily skins as there is no shine in site.

No7 Intense Volume Mascara

Now don’t get me wrong, this is a good mascara. It is not cheap at £11.50 and will lengthen and coat your lashes enough to notice but is very natural. Maybe too natural sometimes, if only one coat is applied, to mistake not wearing mascara, this may be though to your advantage.

Unfortunately though this does not last on your lashes and will rub off during the day, whether it will be because you have physically rubbed your eyes or your eyes have watered slightly. Yes this is expected but other non waterproof mascaras do not do this.

My overall opinion on this is that the waterproof version of this may work better if you are wanting a subtle effect on your lashes.

Chilli Pepper Lip Gloss

Again, this is a brand that you will probably only see in boos during the festive season. This type of lip gloss is so messy and the gloss is not moisturizing, in fact drying, and does not last on your lips. Pointless really

Technic Lip Stick (Pink Lady)– I'm sorry technic. This has made me avoid your lipsticks for good. I had never bought lip sticks before I purchased this, purely because I had enough glosses/balms, but this kept me away from them. The consistency and texture is awful, thick and gritty (because of the glitter – that it doesn’t show on the online swatch!) and shows every single bump on your lips. To get a look you might even start to consider wearing, a lot of blending is needed. I am led to believe other shades are a bit better but you won’t catch me trying.

I love... Strawberry Milkshake Lip Balm

My opinions on this are similar to the Chilli Pepper gloss, although this balm keeps your lips moisturized but not to the standard of my holy grail CHAPSTICK.

I Love … Lip glosses

If you are young and you are enticed to buy a lip gloss to have extremely glossy lips than great. This is for you. If you are one who likes a gloss to have a hint of colour and improve he look of your lips then this is not recommended. Yes, I liked these when I was younger because they smell and taste amazing, but now these are just too much for a sheer/clear sticky gloss.

Rimmel Colour Mousse - Snow Queen

I bought this hoping it would work as an eyeshadow base and helping my eyeshadows last longer. This unfortunately does not do this. This works more like an eyeshadow paint, sweep over the lid and it is left on its own to make a quick eyeshadow look.

Unfortunately I am not one of few people that could work a frosty white eyeshadow lok for casual wear so this rarely gets its useage. I do think though that if this paint was a different colour I would get more wear from it.

It does last a long time on its own and is excellent quality, it is just that the colour is unwearable that I would not recommend buying this.

2True Eyeshadow Dazzlers

I bought these as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Barry M Dazzle Dusts. I find that due to the colours of these and the fall out of these during application, I do not use these very often.

I find that when using these I have to do more eye make-up first as a precaution from the fall out and eye shadow primer is definately an essential to ensure that the glitter stays on your eyes.

These are great for a party or a fancy dress outfit but can be a faff for everyday wear as the product gets everywhere.

Clearasil Overnight Serum

This retails for approximately £7 in Boots but I paid £1 for this from Home Bargains. I thought this was a steal so picked it up to try.

I love the packaging of this as the product comes out from a pump with the right amount you would need. The only downfall from this product is that it doesn't work. I could apply the whole tube of this to my face and I still wouldn't see a difference to my skin. It is just a waste of money buying this and it doesn't make any difference to your breakouts.

Boots Tea Tree Wand

Unfortunately I don't have much good to say about this either. The packaging isn't hygienic as you are applying the gel to the spot and then passing the bacteria back into the tube and the spot gel does not fight spots or show instant action as it claims. The only thing that this product may be useful for is if you have spots under the surface and you want to bring them to the surface, but I doubt many would want this to happen.

What products do you regret buying??
