BethMayBlogs | My 4 year blog-iversary

Hello everybody! Today marks an exciting day for me; marking the 4^th Birthday of my little space on the internet. – my 4^th year Blog-iversary if you will. Admittedly I haven’t shown my blog as much love as I have wanted since my A2s started back in September however due to my exams and A Levels being on hold while I am on ‘bed rest’, I hope that I can get much more regular content out for you all. I just want to thank you all from the heart for your support over the past 4 years and I hope I continue to love blogging in the future as much as I have since 2011.

RAPID Review | THE LIBRARY OF FRAGRANCE Sex On The Beach Pick-Me-Up Cologne*

''Our Sex on the Beach scent is pure refreshment in a glass; an iced and inviting combination of Vodka, unsweetened Pineapple Juice, a touch of Raspberry liquor, a hint of Melon liquor and a splash of Cranberry.''-The Library of Fragrance

The idea of these, extensive range of fragrances and great value - perfect for the hand bag or gift - was one that I was excited to try and hence opted for my preferred fruity style fragrance. In practice however, the sex on the beach, fruity cocktail scent is one that I have neglected in my collection. The scent itself is very strong for a -pick me up cologne - but nevertheless one that I liked and in essence, fruity. The strength of one spritz however is enough for me to feel over powered and unfortunately leaves me wheasing and with a sore throat and coughing?

As this isn't something that I have had trouble with in the past with other perfumes I have since questioned if there's an ingredient in this particular scent that I just don't get along with. Its a real shame as I found myself using this less and less as a pick-me-up cologne, and more so to freshen up my clothes as this hasn't really got the lasting power that i'd like and so to avoid coughing fits that I have never experienced with my other perfumes. Nevertheless, I shall perhaps test alternative scents in store, where testers allow, as I love the concept and perhaps have a particularly strong sample bottle or a scent that I just don't get along with.

RAPID Review: Bourjois Matte Finish Lip Effect*

£8.99* // BOOTS

This really is as good as everybody says. If you want intense bright lip colour , that is what you shall get. I have this in the Frambourjois shade, a bold matte raspberry pink-red, and greatly contrasts my porcelain pale skin.The applicator makes this very easy to apply without being messy and once applied to your desired 'brightness', which needs half a coat, the colour stays matte and is extremely long lasting. It will last fairly well through eating and drinking but I would advise touching up the colour after food to avoid having that awkward line of colour around your lips. That being said, this doesn't go dry or crispy throughout the day and looks very smooth and 'velvet' on your lips and once it has 'set',it doesn't move. The colour you see in the tube really is the colour you get on the lips so pick a colour you love and it shall not disappoint!

RAPID Review: No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shadow Trio 'In the Navy'*

£9.50 // BOOTS
Having been a fan of No7 single shadows in the past, I was a little underwhelmed with the quality of No7’s offering in the shape of their ‘In the Navy’ trio. Aside from the Navy shade, of which I use sparingly, the pigmentation of the matte light taupe and the shimmery flesh coloured shadow is disappointing and the flesh shade, in particular, is chalky and requires lots of layers in order to get the desired colour pay off. I also found fall down with this shade in particular, which for a more premium brand in Boots was let down. Because of the poor pigmentation, this isn't particularly long lasting when used with or without a primer and so I tend to just use this day to day to blend out my shadows or on my brow bone. In order to get use out of the trio, the taupe shade I have found better use for when filling in my brows and the navy along my upper lash line. The eye-shadow trio as a whole has been neglected as very rarely do I opt for filling in my brows or navy liner on a day to day basis.

APRIL UPDATES and INSTAGRAM

Happy April everybody! To say that the past few weeks, months have been eventful and an emotional, medical roller coaster would be a mere understatement. With that, my Easter break of what would normally be a fortnight of as much revision, chocolate and productivity as you possibly can imagine instead became a fortnight of medical mystery and a 2 week admission into a nearby specialist Neurology ward to try and suss out what was causing my mysterious behaviour – it was a lot less scary and concerning than it sounds, I promise, however more on that in a later post!

While I have free-time this week, however, I thought I’d finally get some much overdue reviews up on here and show my readers and blog some love – hooray! - so do keep an eye out for the next couple of days for those.
