2024 - Makeup Empties
The time has come around again to share my annual makeup empties. To conclude 2024, I wanted to share how well I’ve done with finishing the makeup products and ensuring I’m making the most of my makeup collection.
At the end of 2023, I’d managed to finish a whopping 40 products, 21 of which were eyeshadow pans. I knew matching these figures for 2024 project pan would be tricky, so my goal was to use 30 products in total. Unfortunately I wasn’t quite successful, and in total only managed to use up 19 products in total, valuing £303.
What to do with your empty makeup products from Project 10 Pan
It’s well worth keeping your empty products and saving them up to recycle through one of the following schemes;
Boots RecycleMe Scheme - Boots allows you to trade 5 empty products in return for 500 points when you spend £10. I recycled 6 batches in 2024, equating to £30 worth of Boots points.
LookFantastic / Beauty Bay Recycle Me Scheme - Through this scheme, post 5 empty products via the post office, in return for £5 worth of Look Fantastic / Beauty Bay points. I’ve only recently learned about this scheme, but have already cashed in on £25 worth of LF points. There's a 8 deposit limit per month, but well worth giving a go.
So what makeup have I actually managed to finish in 2024?
Foundations / BB Creams (5) - £100.58
Garnier BB Cream (Light) (£7.49), Rimmel Lasting Finish - Shade 100 (£8.79), Morphe Light Form Extended Hydration Foundation (Light 04W) (£16), Mac Studio Fix Fluid (NW15) (£36), Clarins BB Skin Detox Fluid (00 Fair) (£32.30)
I continued to love Rimmels 25 Hour Foundation and Clarins BB Cream in 2024, however, didn’t get a chance to try the new formulation of the Rimmel Foundation. I also tried and loved the Morphe Foundation, however, opted not to repurchase. Trying the classic Mac Studio Fix Fluid in 2024 was a walk down memory lane, however, unfortunately too heavy and too dark for my preference.
Concealer (3) - £10.94
Unbranded Concealer Trio , Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer (C4) (£4.99), Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Concealer (Shade 100) (£5.95)
Unfortunately in 2024 I wasn’t particularly fond of any of the concealers I’d run out of. I continue in 2025 to search for a concealer that challenges the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer.
Powder (4) - £75
Revolution Pressed Powder - Translucent (£3.50), Laura Mercier Loose Powder (£29.95), No7 Pressed Powder (£12.55), Rodial Loose Powder (Mini) (£29)
Considering in 2023 I didn’t use a single powder in full, I am overjoyed to have used up 4 in 2024. Less overjoyed trying to find a budget replacement for my more expensive Laura Mericer and Rodial powders. THe jury is still out as to whether it is worth splurging on the Rodial Loose Powder and I was gutted when they reformulated the Laura Mericer powder to a ‘glow’ powder, so I shall continue to search for a firm powder foundation in 2025.
Eyeshadows (2) - £3.13
Mascara (1) - £23
Kylie Cosmetics Kylash Mascara (£23)
I can’t say I’d particularly recommend this mascara as it dried out pretty quickly and wasn’t much better than cheaper mascaras I own. In 2025 I continue to look for a holy-grail in the mascara category.
Mac Lightscapade Mineralise Skinfinish Highlighter (£34), The Beauty Crop Glow Milk Highlighter Compact (Pear Pressure) (£10), HiSyi Highlighter (~£2), Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer (Medium) (£45)
I was pleasantly surprised by The Beauty Crop Glow Milk Highlighter and will look to repurchase this if I can find it. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the MAC MSF in the shade Lightscapade, so will be sticking with ‘Soft & Gentle’ in future. The Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer I have since replaced and look forward to using again in 2025.
